Ministry of Commerce Signs MoU Promoting Export of Cambodian Bird’s Nest to China

PHNOM PENH: The General Department of Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cambodian Business Center located in Xiamen city, to promote the export of Cambodian Bird’s Nests to China.

The MoU signing ceremony was held on Thursday, 27 October, under the Chairmanship of the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, Chhuon Dara, who presided over the ceremony as the official representative of the Minister of Commerce, Pan Sorasak. The signing ceremony was attended by leaders and officials of the Ministry of Commerce and other representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, along with members and associations of private sector companies involved in the production, distribution and sale of edible bird’s nest.

The Director General of the General Department of Trade Promotion, Kao Kosal, expressed his great pleasure and honor in signing the MoU between the General Department of Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Center of Cambodia in Xiamen city. He said the MoU is focused on main cooperation activities such as finding partners to produce and supply bird’s nest, supporting the establishment of bird’s nest processing plants, promoting the opening of trade channels for bird’s nest products between Cambodia and China, and strengthening the business network by organizing various trade events between the two countries.

The President of the Cambodian Business Center, Then Zeng Youmin, said that he would like to thank the Ministry of Commerce for its support in signing the MoU on the Promotion of Cambodian Bird’s Nest Exports to China. The Cambodian Business Center in Xiamen aims to promote Sino-Cambodian cooperation and contribute to strengthening the export of Cambodian bird’s nests to China.

Secretary of State Chhuon Dara stated that he was honored and pleased to participate in the signing ceremony of the MoU, on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce. He expressed his appreciation of the General Department of Trade Promotion in working with the Cambodian Business Center to prepare this MoU, and thanks the Cambodian Business Center for its efforts in promoting the export of Cambodian bird’s nest products to the Chinese market.

He added that the business sector in Cambodia has been developing well, so he encourages the private sector, small and medium enterprises, and development partners to continue investing in business in Cambodia, to ensure the sustainability of domestic production and market stability, as well as regional and international standards of hygiene and safety. He stressed that this new export opportunity for Cambodian bird’s nest is great news for the Cambodian private sector, and he hopes that the MoU will allow for bird’s nest products to be exported to China as soon as possible.
